Coast Hotels was started in 2003 with the primary aim of finding beautiful locations on the UK coastline.

We soon found that the properties in the locations we loved were in need of redevelopment or dramatic refurbishment / modernization, which the owners didn’t feel able to execute.

Tom Boltjes, possibly the best hotel consultant in Europe, was brought on board to guide us with that element of our model. A lifelong school friend of Rob, he was trained in Lausanne and spent his whole life as an international hotelier. He ran the hotels for several years to get first hand experience and as a result we began to learn the intricacies of our trade.

Sam also has a passion for boutique hotels; inspired initially by Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, he adores The Scarlet at Mawgan Porth. His interested in this area developed while working at Raven Group and subsequently Candy & Candy.

Tom and Sam and the rest of the team, simply put, are thinking people who are constantly trying to improve and to get every detail right. Our standards are high and second best just isn’t good enough.
